Anyways....
So much has happened over the past few days that I don't even know where to start :)
On Friday morning, Aimee and I left on our epic road trip to the Seattle area. Our primary reason for the visit?
Penny mare, of course!
We left early enough to visit her Friday evening, and also went out on Saturday and Sunday. In short, she's amazing. I am so lucky to have her. I think we're going to be a really good match... which is a HUGE relief!
Penny is a very sweet mare who wants to trust people so badly. She is wicked smart and a fast learner. She is very quiet (especially for only being off the auction yard for a few days!) and was tons of fun to work with. I think she'll be a blast to train.
She is also short :-P ... We measured her at somewhere around 15.1 - 15.2 hh. But she is nicely proportioned and, being a QH, is pretty sturdy with a nice-sized barrel so hopefully I won't look too out of proportion on her. Plus, she's so cute... I fell in love with her instantly. She doesn't think I'm too bad, either... especially since I give her lots of cookies ;)
She warmed up to me very quickly. There was a huge difference between the first time I tried to halter her...
And the last:
Doesn't she look a lot softer and more relaxed? Good mare :) And apparently she nickered when I left the barn yesterday <3 I miss her already... especially since I don't know when I'll get to see her next as she's currently about 8 hours from me. But that will all change next month... if everything goes to plan. Cross your fingers for us!
Tomorrow I'll post more details about the trip itself, including me and Aimee's visits to the Enumclaw Sales Pavillion and the Olsen's Tack Shop fall sale. Later this week I will post more about my visits with Penny and where we're going from here. I'll leave you with a super cute pic of my super cute mare <3
TTFN!
Love the new design!!
ReplyDeleteFrankly, I think epic is probably the only word to describe that trip.
